About BSG

Miniseries & Television Series

Battlestar Galactica (2003) is a reimagined military science fiction television series of the 1970’s television series Battlestar Galactica (1978-1980). Originally introduced as a three-hour miniseries, the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, also known as BSG, was comissioned by Scifi Channel, produced by David Eick and screenwritten by Ronald D. Moore.  The mini-series was a ratings success for the Sci-Fi Channel and they commissioned a new weekly Battlestar Galactica series to follow, which ran for four seasons (2005-2009).

The series features Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, and garnered a wide range of critical acclaim, which included a Peabody Award, the Television Critics Association’s Program of the Year Award, a placement inside Time‘s 100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME, and Emmy nominations for its writing, directing, costume design, visual effects, sound mixing, and sound editing, with Emmy wins for both visual effects and sound editing.
